For the past few months I've been providing a weekly "mini" 20 minute online practise for my colleagues in the NELFT NHS Trust. In recognition that we may be:

  • more sedentary than usual due to lockdown

  • more stressed out due to normal fears and anxieties related to Covid-19

  • physically and psychologically weary as a result of increased pressures from your job, your family, your kids school, etc

  • sad and frustrated at the devastation that Covid-19 has wreaked on us as a community

we thought it may be helpful to make one of these sessions available to everyone. It's really important to bring the body into the equation when we think about emotional regulation - if your body is full of tension, it's going to be really difficult to reduce psychological tension and feel 'fully' calm.

The session is a short "shot" of a little bit of breathing, a little bit of movement and a little bit of mindfulness. Based on a yoga therapy approach, it's easily doable despite the amount of space you may or may not have and it's super gentle for those days when you feel like your energy and motivation is super low and you don't have a lot of time.

It's available to view on the NELFT NHS website here. Please do feel free to share it with colleagues, friends, family and remember to try to drop a little bit of movement into your day as often as you can.
